England central defender Rio Ferdinand could yet be fit for the second leg of Manchester United's Champions League clash with Roma on Wednesday night.
Ferdinand limped off during the second half of United's 2-2 draw at Middlesbrough and sparked fears by leaving the Riverside with his foot in a protective case.
But a scan on Monday confirmed there was no break - and he may now be available for Roma's visit to Old Trafford.
Manager Sir Alex Ferguson, whose men won the first leg in Rome 2-0 last week, said: "Rio's scan was clear and we hope to have him on Wednesday."
