Wayne Rooney has been ruled out of Manchester United's Europa League last-32 encounter with Ajax after picking up a throat infection. The England striker was confined to bed over the weekend and Sir Alex Ferguson is hoping he will have recovered in time to face Norwich at Carrow Road on Sunday.
